Slider

"Русская версия"

Description

Slider – a banner that consists of several images which appear subsequently after equal intervals of time. The images stay still for a while and then slide again. When the images are not moving you can see a little bit of previous and next image.

Minimum number of slides is 3 and maximum is 10.

We have two modifications of slider banner one for horizontal and one for vertical banner places.

Horizontal slider template – is created for horizontal banner places, meaning that their width is bigger that their height. When the images are not moving you can see a little bit of previous and next image. Users can use arrows: “left” and “right” and radio buttons to navigate between slides.

Vertical slider template – is created for vertical banner places, meaning that their height is bigger than their width. When the images are not moving you can see a little bit of previous and next image. Users can use arrows: “up” and “down” to navigate between slides.

Slider without any controls – is suitable for any banner place (vertical or horizontal). Template implements automatic slide change after equal time intervals. Slide change is animated: previous slide fades out while the next one appears above it. Template has no user controls, all change is automatic.

Other names: Gallery banner, Carousel

Preparations

Preparing Horizontal Slider:

1. Slide - images (*.jpg, *.png, *.gif).
2. Default image (*.jpg, *.png, *.gif) for users who do not have a flash plugin installed on their computer.

File size requirements

File size must not exceed the following
- Images (*.jpg, *.png, *.gif) — up 300 Kb.

The limitations are checked separately for each file.   To use files that exceed those limits host them somewhere on your server and use URL field when creating the banner to provide a direct link to your file. (http://...)

File names
File names may only contain letters of English alphabet lower and upper case, numbers and ‘_’.   All other symbols such as russian letters,  space symbol and ‘“’ , ’”’, ‘-’ are not allowed.

Choosing image sizes

Image sizes are derived from banner place size using the following facts:
You must leave about 20 pixels for radio buttons, which means that image height must be 20 pixels less that banner place height. Advisable image width is ¾ of banner place width. It just looks better this way. All images must be the same size.

Our slider was not designed for slides (images) that have the same width as the banner place. If you do specify width in the way described above next and previous images will not be visible and you will be leaving no space for your buttons. Thus your slider may work incorrectly.

Default-image size must be the same as banner-place size.

Preparing Vertical Slider

1. Slide - images (*.jpg, *.png, *.gif).
2. Default -image (*.jpg, *.png, *.gif) for users who do not have a flash plugin installed on their computer.
3. Buttom-images (*.jpg, *.png, *.gif) if you want to use your own custom buttons.

Choosing image sizes

Advisable image width is ¾ of banner place width. It just looks better this way. All images must be the same size.  Default-image size must be the same as banner-place size.

Our slider was not designed for slides (images) that have the same height as the banner place. If you do specify height in the way described above next and previous images will not be visible and you will be leaving no space for your buttons. Thus your slider may work incorrectly.

In addition you can choose to use your own custom buttons, prepare 4 images like so:
- Two images for your “up” button – one for it’s active state (user put the mouse over the button) and one for it’s passive state (no action toward the button at the moment)
- Two images for your “down” button – one for it’s active state (user put the mouse over the button) and one for it’s passive state (no action toward the button at the moment)

As a cheat you can use the same images for active and passive button states. Thus you have to prepare 2-4 images for buttons.  All button - images must be the same size.

Preparing slider with no controls.

All you need to prepare are images that all have the same size which equals to the width and height of the banner place.

Event counting

Besides counting transitions for the whole banner we’ve enabled transitions counting for each picture-slide using AdFox events.
Unfortunately, our system cuts of any extra clicks by one user on one view. So occasionally the number of total transitions (clicks) will not match the sum of events for all pictures.

To make it a little more clear consider this example. The user sees the banner, he then clicks first image and out of curiosity the second and so on. Our system will register one click and a number of events depending on how many times user clicked on the banner.

All in all refer to event statistics, which is more accurate for this banner type.
We use AdFox events 1 through 10 to count transitions.
To specify your desired links for each picture open "баннеры" -> "события" tab. Use absolute references like this http://www.example.com for each event 1 through 10.
